This is to address the same problem That I am having from the posting before.I run windows 98 se I recently had to upgrade my modem (cause of lighting strike) I purchased a USR 56k voice fax modem oem # 2976, For the last five years I have used The "SuperVoice" answering machine fax bulletin board system, from Pacific Images communications. I have run into a problem with not being able to start the supervoice program. Every time the software is started it runs a series of tests and keeps getting the same error message "there is no response from the modem" I have been told that this is most likely the voice part of the modem that is not responding, The modem works fine with my internet connection and dialing out just will not start up with this software. This software did work correctly when first installed, I'm not sure what changed to make the modem "not respond" to the software. any help would be greatly appricieated.
thanks scott

What COM port is the modem installed on?
Is your modem a software/Windows-only modem?

It could be that the software you are using does not support the ComPort and/or IRQ.

If that is the case, you need to try and get the modem to install on (say) COM2.

Aloha,
Richard
