Hi,
I decided to get a second modem, and decided to get a USR 56k ISA Winmodem off a friend who had taken it out of a Gateway comp0uter a while ago, as it wasn't needed (LAN).

Anyway, I first of all got the drivers from the Gateway site along with the V.90 upgrade, and then shut down and installed the modem.

Booted up, installed drivers, and ran the V.90 upgrade. Everything went fine, and I ten decided to test it out. Connected phone...clicked connect...no dial tone. Nothing I have done can get it to detect a dial tone. It makes a little noise from the onboard speaker when you click connect, but after that, nothing. Here's the responses from the ATI commands which I got from it in hyperterminal.

Thanks,
Brendan.

Either you don't have a connection to a good phone jack to the modem (or line cord plugged into incorrect jack on modem), or the modem is damaged.

Aloha,
Richard
