I'm getting connections to my ISP at 50666 bps. I use
Internet Explorer 5.50. My home page is MSN. Sometimes when log on to my home page, the little logo of the world spins and spins..nothing is happening. There is no activity on the 2 monitors in lower right on my screen. I can refresh, and then things start moving, or I can wait it out and eventually I get my web page to download. This doesn't happen all the time. But it seems like its happening more and more. This also happens when I go from one web site to another. I'm using a 3Com internal modem with voice. This just might be my imagination, but it seems like I have this problem much less frenquently when I use Netscape as my browser. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

It could be your ISP or beyond and nothing to do with your modem -

Doing ping or traceroute from a DOS window should help you determine where the problem is.

I probably shouldn't say anything, this is supposed to be an "urban legend", but I have somewhat similar results when trying to access the Microsoft support sites.

I can sit waiting and waiting for my Netscape browser to display the page, while a co-worker at another desk running Internet Explorer can get right in, no problem.

Umm... who makes Internet Explorer anyway..? ;)

This sounds very familiar. I frequently experience something like that. Check my recent problem posting 'USR modem connected but no data transfer'

Packet loss / intermittent high latency can cause this type of problem. Esp packet loss.
