I just installed a 3Com/USR 2976 PCI Voice modem (not a winmodem); however it will only install to COM5 and according to USR that can't be changed. I need to use an older Windows program that will only access COM1-4.

A support bulletin on their website talks about installing "U.S. Robotics 56K PCI DOS Box Support" which will redirect COM5 to COM4, yet this program/driver seems to exist nowhere on their site.

Anyone else have this problem and find a solution?

Anyone know where I can the "PCI DOS Box Support" program and/or the voice features software that would come with this modem?

Thanks!

Scott

Ok, I found the DOSBox and drivers hiding at

http://consumer.3com.com/oem/filelibrary/index.html

DOSBox appears to be installed now (shows up under add/remove programs) but the older Windows program won't access COM4 through it...

Any ideas now?

I may have the same problem, except that it is about an old DOS application running under Windows Me (Millenium Edition) with a winmodem by Conexant. This app is very important to me.
If I can't get it to successfully use the modem, I probably have to keep running it on older PC with Win95.
I finally got thru to the site that you reference but none of the files appear to be for WinMe.

If you disable the second COM port in the CMOS, will the modem then reinstall to COM2?
