Raven Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 12/11/2000 2:17:57 PM Wait! Before you think this is another,"Did you remember to hook the phone cord into the modem?" hear me out! ;) I built myself a new box two days ago. Everything's working great, excepting only the modem. Which has fought me every step of the way. I've tried everything I can think of. Heck, until just a few moments ago, it wouldn't even dial. No nothing, it acted like it was dead. I even checked another modem of the exact same model...I bought the majority of the same parts for another computer I'm building for a business, so I tested their modem in my puter. Zippo. Anyone have a single idea for me?? I can't understand why I can't get a response! -Amanda |

Raven Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 12/12/2000 2:18:00 PM Yuppers, it's a PCI modem. I checked over that page already; nothing there really even pertained to the problem. Although I checked something different tonight; I got a splitter for the phone line and hooked up the phone to the other end of it and listened - the modem didn't even output to the line, although the speaker made it sound as though it was dialing. I know it's hooked up. I've checked the lines to make certain they're live, and I know it's in the right slot in the modem. I can hook a phone up to the jack in the modem FOR the phone and get a dialtone...... so I don't understand why it's not working. |
Raven Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 12/12/2000 2:21:02 PM As a note: the video card is AGP, the motherboard is new as of Saturday, and I've tried this minus the soundcard. There aren't any other optional cards I can take out...... |
