| ramoq Tl Posts: 1 | Posted - 5/10/2000 11:56:18 AM    I purchased a 56k modem from a friend of minea while ago. and since i have set it up i have been getting connections at like 36000 and never any better then that . My crappy isp claims it's my phone line quality but i checked out the quality of my line and it's completely fine. this is my modem.. Us Robotics 56k v.90 (2976)Voice faxmodem (OEM) SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!! ANYTHING WOULD BE APPRECIATED. |
| SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 5/10/2000 8:50:39 PM  You're connecting at 36 but probably progressing upwards during the session. Prove it after a 10-15 minute call. Disconnect, use hyperterminal and type ati6. Highest speed should be shown. I connect sometimes at 38 but often reach to 50, with mid-40's being norm. |

| SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 5/11/2000 6:06:26 PM Time? I actually had to slow my modems down to a max of 46 - too many errors if any higher. Besides, forcing a connect at ONLY a certain speed (unless it's v.34 or slightly higher, results in too many redials (TIME). |
| Daveman_750 Tl Posts: 86 USA | Posted - 5/12/2000 6:44:58 PM I am not very familiar with 3COM modems specifically. On LTs forcing a rate won't cause it to redial, it will CONNECT at whatever speed you set it at and give you a million errors. |
