I have a usr 56k int v5.19.1
product #66297700 is this also the FLL#
from this information how do I tell if its a hardware modem or software modem.....

I should also mention it is a pci.....does that infere that its a winmodem or a hardware modem

I am pretty sure though not positive that that modem is a oem Winmodem which means it is software. It will not run on Unix unless you have some sort of drivers that can act as the missing hardware components.

No, sorry. This is not a winmodem, but not a real hardware modem. There are no PCI hardware modems at all. But 2977 is "the best from the worst", it's good for it's money, it has it's own flash memory. It's fst enough, and... there are no more ISA slots in new computers, so... we have no choice... Bye-bye, hardware modems!

What in God's name are you talking about?
USR still makes hardware based modems
The Performance Pro is a hardware modem. It's a piece of junk but it's a hardware based PCI modem.
