lostconnection Tl Posts: 18 | Posted - 1/14/2001 11:17:04 PM What's your pick? Shall I go for USB or Serial? I'm done with the mickey-mouse LT Winmodem and want to get a serious one with controller and DSP. |

cbyrdjr Tl Posts: 12 | Posted - 1/16/2001 5:08:45 AM I'd go serial as well. Don't discount your LT winmodem so quickly though. I was having problems with my internet connection as per the thread below and finally decided just for kicks to try LT winmodem PCI that I had laying around. I'm getting much better throughput with it (although still not what I think I should be getting). It also doesn't seem to have to retrain as often as my USR did. I'm guessing that after all these years, there are still some issues with certain client side modems connecting to certain pieces of equipment. Just my 2 cents worth. |
romantik Tl Posts: 13 | Posted - 1/17/2001 7:06:42 AM A serial modem will be dependent on the UART chip of you com port, but a USB tends to be high all the time. If you are using a hub, then the USR externals are a little iffy on connection, but if you have the room to directly connect it...USB is the way to go. Just an opinion. |
