| losgadas Tl Posts: 10 USA | Posted - 1/23/2001 8:43:53 AM    The subject modem only connects at 28.8k bps. This is an older model. When I had the newest model I connected between 37-42k bps. Any ideas how to force the modem to connect at a higher speed? thanks in advance  |

The new modem may simply be able to dechiper the data between more noise due to the ever present advances within digital signal processing. Said in another way, your old modem requires better signal to noise ratio in order to obtain high connect speeds. |
| SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 1/24/2001 6:37:44 PM  2 things to check. Use hyperterminal and type ati7. Will say if v90 capable. Also will give flash date. Latest, like mine is 10/98. You can a find same info in cpanel, modems, diagnostics, more info. If not listed v90 or earlier flash date, go here and click on product finder and get upgrade wizard. Last I checked, there was still an upgrade (free) for the 5686. |
