| engasa Tl Posts: 1 Egypt | Posted - 3/1/2001 6:36:21 AM    is there a way to increase my connection speed with this modem .. I only get about 3 Kbyte/s . some of my friends told me that there is a utility sw that increase or double the speed of that modem .. is that real?? please help me  |
| SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 3/1/2001 6:41:54 PM  There are alot of gimmicks out there for increasing speed, but most deal with cache or MTU. Nothing will force the modem to connect faster than capable, factoring all the variables - modem, pc, line, ISP. If you're line is ok, try another # at ISP. Richard's site has valuable info on testing your modem with other ISP's. http://808news.com/56k/trouble4.htm All modems connect differently; 56k isn't an exact science. Friend kept buying modems trying to get past 33, despite my telling him otherwise. Using my "encouragement" he switched ISP's and now gets 49. |
