do certain modems work better with certain brand PCs? like do USR work better with lets say a dell or whatever..

ok i am on bellsouth.net and i found out that thier primary 56k support is v90 ok and it says that thier primary modems are cisco?????? if i have a usr does this matter?? what does that mean.. thier primary modems are cisco??

The most important factor for your connection is the facilities the telco uses to provide you with phone service.

Other factors include your modem type and firmware rev, the ISP's modem type and firmware rev, and the type of telco facilities connecting the ISP to phone network, and the routing (trunks) used to complete the call.

The bottom line is that there's no way to tell what modem will work best for you; and that what works best today may not work well tomorrow - or even on the next call you make.

Cisco RAS is born of Rockwell/Conexant engineering.
I would get a Lucent-based Win Modem.
