Is there an AT command for locating
the maximum DTE rate.
If not, what is the best way to locate it?

Your modem is DCE (data communications equipment); the computer (com port) is DTE (data terminal equipment).

With h/w controller modem, the modem will have a max rate it can communicate to DTE; your COM port will also have a maximum. The maximum you can use is the lower of the 2.

Modem will auto-adjust to DTE rate when it receives AT (enter). You can use Hyperterminal with different port speed settings to send AT to modem; if it returns OK, the port speed you use is supported; if it doesn't return OK, the speed is not supported.

Aloha,
Richard
