shiekh Tl Posts: 34 USA | Posted - 4/19/2001 11:13:49 AM It tells me: Invalid Codeword which is not very illuminating. |
SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 4/19/2001 11:22:51 AM You say a v90 Sportster on same line does ok. Is it using the same pc and browser? If not, make sure browser isn't set to check for mail every 15 mins. If it is, reconfigure, depending on browser. |
shiekh Tl Posts: 34 USA | Posted - 4/19/2001 11:45:39 AM same Mac and browser |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 4/19/2001 3:58:56 PM Invalid codeword = an error in the error correction protocol; I would suggest checking your firmware version (is it the latest)? Are you using any init string? Check dip switches as they can override settings; make sure you are using correct .inf file; try disabling V.42 & connect with MNP. Also, test in Hyperterminal with V.42 and MNP - www.808news.com/56k/trouble2.htm - disable V.42 code also AT s$ in Hyperterminal will display all s-register settings; reset modem to Factory default (AT&F1) first; www.808news.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.htm Aloha, |
shiekh Tl Posts: 34 USA | Posted - 4/20/2001 3:01:00 PM Latest V.90 software present (1998) Using Init string avised by USR in their update document (AT&F1&W used first) Have still to check the DIP switch defaults. Thanks for all the help to date. Andy |
shiekh Tl Posts: 34 USA | Posted - 4/20/2001 5:43:54 PM Looks like I had Apple talk active on my modem port. Turned it off, and so far things seem stable.

shiekh Tl Posts: 34 USA | Posted - 4/22/2001 8:57:21 AM False alarm. It stabalized on of my Sportsters, but both V.90 ext. Couriers (latest US/Canada code) still drop the line will 'illegal command' |
shiekh Tl Posts: 34 USA | Posted - 4/22/2001 5:33:23 PM By using a more recent ARA (Apple Remote Access) script (GV x2/V.90 rather than USR), and so another init string, the Courier was stabalized, and no longer drops the line. Thanks to one and all in helping me get to this point.
