Control Center software can not find modem.

Modem connects from 31,200 to 50,666, mostly
31,200, old winmodem did 50k.

Driver is from CD that came with modem.

Return the modem and use one that works better for you; or try other ISPs.

I recently bought a 5686D external modem and the same problem occurs -- Control Center can't find the modem. I e-mailed USR from their support page about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back. Apparently they never updated Control Center to recognize the new model. I downloaded the latest Control Center from their site and still the same result.

Connect speeds have been pretty good, around 45k which is great for my area. Using SpeedGadget to test my throughput, it often measures 50k or 51k, and at sometimes it shows 52k. Does anyone know how accurate SpeedGadget really is?
