I install the modem.
Modem works great, but now when any sound is played the computer completely locks.
Possible conflict with the PCI Serial port it installs?
Possible conflict because of the virtual com port it uses - Com 5.
How do I get it to let ME tell it what com port to install it on - Com 1 is open!
Anyone heard of this? Any help? Thanks

Try a different PCI slot.

What is a 2976 modem? Don't see it on USR site -
USR doesn't support WinMe with many of its modems.

The 2976 modem is an OEM 3Com product. Unfortunately, you'll get only limited support from USR with this one. Look for OEM drivers on USR's Website.
