I have a 3Com Megahertz 56k PCMCIA modem in my new Toshiba Satellite Laptop running Windows 2000. I bought and installed this modem when the onboard Zircom MPCI would not connect faster than 26.4 (v.34)on known good v.90 capable phone lines.

The laptop came with Win 98 SE installed. The connect speeds were exactly the same

Now, with Win 2000 and the 3Com Megahertz modem I am connecting at the same speeds as the onboard Zircom was connecting at.

Has anyone got any ideas on what to try next?

Sorry for the delayed responce, out of town. When I entered aty11, the modem responded with a message that said something like "this not a valid command".

However, while I was gone one of my associates found a firmware update at 3com and installed it. It now connects consistently in the high 40's.
