What software are you using to connect the 2?
What init string?

When connecting 2 client modems, I suggest use init string that disables 56k since 2 client modems cannot establish 56k connect -
AT&F1s32=98 - originating modem
AT&F1s32=98s0=1 - answer modem

If you still get low rates, examine/post post-call diagnostics

What is it you mean when you say 'when connecting the 2 with the same phone line.....?'

Are you trying to use 2 modems on 1 phone line at the same time?

In any event, your y11 results would indicate you are not on a 56k-capable line, and you should disable 56k on the modem.

Sounds like there is too much of a load on your phone line. Try disconnecting all phones on the line and see
if the speed increases. Then, one by one, add a phone (or accessory)back on and see what happens. Possibly one or more phones and/or accessory is pulling too much from the line. Check the "REN" number on the phone/accessory
A year ago, I just purchaed a dialer and connicted to the phone line. My speed dropped to about 26k. When I took it off , it went back to about 49k. The Ren number was 1.8b. Too high!. Should be less than 1.
Also, if you are only getting 28k on a 56k modem, possible your phone line is not capable of higher speeds due to line conditions and being too far from the central office.
