T I Larson Tl Posts: 2 USA	Posted - 7/29/2001 10:15:14 AM         The modem was working fine and just quit. It is only 5 months old and was over $100.00. I have completely removed any and all files relared to this modem and re-installed from CD. (several times) Software installes, and system recognizes moedm, but installs to com port 3 with no IRQ, and won't let me edit it. It says "can't open port" Is it the modem or is the com port on the Main board blown, I don't know and it is driving me nuts.

T I Larson Tl Posts: 2 USA	Posted - 7/30/2001 7:34:41 AM         It is not my PC but the owner says it was ok when he shut it down and next time he went to use it, the modem would not work. He lets young children play games on the PC. The problem is fixed(by accident or just luck). Some how the CMOS settings were changed, so I reste slots 4 & 5 from assign IRQ AUTO to manual and assigned IRQ11 to those slots and it works. Still trying to figure how the CMOS got changed in the first place, I dont think the children could have done it. What ever, all the CMOS settings were back to the fail safe settings & nobody is taking credit for it.
