I have an USRobotics 56k win modem, when i use this modem under windows 98 SE it takes all of the system resorses and the whole computer begins to work RELAY slow i can hardly move my mouse coursor...
this shuldent happen becouse i have an AMD T-BIRD 1.2 GB and 256DDR memory...
if I install windows ME or win2K it works fine.
i tried to download new drivers but i cant find my model 802884aw in usr.com nor in 3com.com....

please help me , i cant work under win2k and i dont want to work under winME

In the Device Manager, double click on Computer, see if any other devices use the same IRQ as the modem.

Try the "56k voice internal PCI (xx2884A)"

Or more likely the "Older 56k voice internal PCI (xx2884-xx)"

no there is no irq conflics or stuff like that...

Windows may not report a conflict even though on exists, just need to be sure that nothing else is using the same IRQ as the modem.

i am sure that nothing is using the irq
it is irq 3 and it is set in the bios too

This is an internal modem isn't it?

Modem is using IRQ3, what Com Port is it on?

What Com Ports do you have listed under Ports in the Device Manager?

the modem is on com 5 and i have com1 and com2 in device maneger....

Might try removing Com2 in the Device Manager and then disabling Serial Port 2 (or B) in the BIOS Setup.
