Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 9/3/2001 2:14:43 PM Might try posting a modem log of a connection attempt. See http://modemsite.com/56k/modemlog.htm for locating the log. Might also post the ati6i11 results after a connection or connection attempt. See http://modemsite.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.htm for setting up Hyperterminal. |

Would indicate the .inf file for your modem doesn't match the connect response of ouyr modem. Check USR website for modem .inf (driver); re-install modem with correct .inf (driver); Note also that the reason your modem hung up may be that you have checked error correction & required to connect, and that Windows with its lack of understanding of the connect string reported thinks the connection does not include error correction;

stevegordon Tl Posts: 3 United Kingdom | Posted - 9/5/2001 6:40:58 AM Hi Richard, Bob, I unchecked the necessary boxes regarding 'error correction', but still get the same response. Installed a different driver which, according to 'Modem Properties - More Info' is the correct one, 015668-00. But, it is giving a max connection speed of 50.000 bps for V.90. Do I also need to install the 015668-00 - 56k message modem V.90 update as the web site says something about it may damage the modem? Bob, don't seem to be able to type anything into 'HyperTerminal' once its running! The modem Model # is clearly written on the back though. Thanks for your help. Steve. |
Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 9/5/2001 11:52:44 AM The posted modem log was showing that the modem was connecting at "CONNECT 50666/ARQ/V90/LAPM/V42BIS" but Windows just wasn't understanding what the modem was reporting due to the possibly incorrect .inf file. 50666bps is an excellent connection. See http://modemsite.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.htm for setting up Hyperterminal. May have to blindly enter ATE1 before you can see what you're entering so be sure to enter the ATE1 correctly, after that you'll be able to see what you're typing. Also you can't be online and use Hyperterminal at the same time. Might post a new model log. |
