kulda kalita Tl Posts: 2 Kenya | Posted - 9/4/2001 1:47:51 PM I had bought one 3com 3cp263594a-oem 56k dfv awpci pc99 modem.Unfortunately it does not work.i.e. when you dial it gives me no dial tone. Though telephone line is very ok. If you manually dial the modem works. Please help me out to sort out this problem. Thank you |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 9/4/2001 8:04:03 PM Your profile indicates you are in Kenya - check your country settings for the modem - Windows Control Panel -> Telephony. You need a driver for your country (or another country using same standards are yours); You may also be able to work around problem by including blind dial setting in init string (extra settings) - x1 - www.modemsite.com/56k/initmagic.htm Aloha, |

Thanks for your suggestion.But it did not work.I fail to understand one thing that if my settings or drivers are not ok how do I connect to my internet/e-mail manually.Yes when I dia out manually my modem I get connected.It only does not work when you dial normally. It will always give me "NO DIAL TONE". So please assist me to sort out the problem.I could understand about the blind setting in init string.Please help!!! |
Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 9/5/2001 6:16:51 PM Might try this: Q120221 - How to Rebuild the Telephon.ini File http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q120/2/21.asp If that doesn't help, in the 'Dial-Up Networking', right click your ISP's DUN connection and select 'Properties', on the 'General' tab click the 'Configure' button, select the 'Connection' tab and uncheck 'Wait for dial tone before dialing'. Click OK on everything and then try a connection. |
