I'm using Win2K SP2, with a USR 56k modem (identified as Sportster Flash V.90 PnP). The modem sometimes "resets" itelf after the initial handshake with the ISP. In other words, after the "bong bong" part of the handshake, the modem turns itself off and on. I have to wait a minute for Windows to realise that something is wrong, closes the port and then I get an error (777, I think, since the number isn't stated/I don't remember). If I cancel the connection before the minute is up, I'll get port-open errors. It only happens on certain calls, with the same ISP. The number I call is a "hunting line", i.e. it looks for a free POP to connect to. Can anybody help? It's really irritating.

Thanks.

Thanks, but everything on my end works perfectly. I only get this error on certain POPs; not all of them, so I think this should qualify my first statement.
