EC68 Tl Posts: 2 | Posted - 9/14/2001 3:21:43 PM I have the 995630 fax external usr modem and i would like to ask you what are the best settings for the optimal perfomance for my modem and the com port should l put the baud rate of my modem 115200 or 57600? should i put the baud rate of my com port from 9600(default) for win me to 115200? the flow control from xon xoff(default) to hardware to com that my modem is conect? i heard that is not only the settings for my modem but the settings of my com port that my modem connects to that makes the perfomance optimal is it real? the com port by defaylt is 9600,8,n,1,xon/xoff the optimal is 115200,8,n,1,hardware? the modem optimal is 115200 and the fifo buffers to full? can you give the settings for optimal perfomance for my modem and the port? |
Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 9/14/2001 5:06:17 PM I'd suggest: In the 'Dial-Up Networking' folder, right click your ISP's DUN connection and select 'Properties', on the 'General' tab click the 'Configure' button. On the 'General' tab of your modem's properties set the 'Maximum Speed' to 115200, leave the 'Only connect at this speed' UNchecked. Next select the 'Connection' tab, under 'Connection Preferences' the following should be set: Data bits: 8 'Call Preferences' - Your option. Then click the 'Advanced' button, the following should be set: Use Error Control - Checked Use Flow Control - Checked You can match these settings in the Modem Properties in the Control Panel, Modems. ----------------- Bits per second: 115200 All other settings for all the above should be default. Unless you're having a specific problem these settings should be all you need. Think that covered everything. |

Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 9/15/2001 11:49:20 AM I could be wrong but the Modem Properties should override the Com Port's properties so the Com Port settings shouldn't interfere with the connection, at least it doesn't with my internal ISA modem which has an onboard serial port (Com4). |
