larrytarr Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 10/2/2001 11:59:48 AM I had a similar experience with my 5686D running in Windows 2000. I contacted USR technical support via e-mail, and in a few days received a terse response from one of their techs that went something like this: CONTROL CENTER DOES NOT WORK IN WINDOWS 2000. HAVE A NICE DAY. Since you're running under NT and Control Center is not recognizing your modem, I'm going to guess that Control Center doesn't work under NT either. Judging from the response I received from USR, they just couldn't care less and don't want to be bothered. When my ISP starts supporting v.92, which they say will be soon, I'll be stuck with a modem that is SUPPOSED to support v.92 but the software USR supplies with the equipment does not make that possible while running a very popular OS. |
Quarath Tl Posts: 16 | Posted - 10/4/2001 1:27:40 PM Control Center may not work in win 2k but also the control center on several disks sent out was an incorrect version that did not work right, USR suggests downloading teh newer version. |
JohnSmitch Tl Posts: 5 | Posted - 10/4/2001 2:32:11 PM hi all, I got it working by downloading new ControlCenter here: ftp://usrcontrolcenter:usrcontrolcenter@totalservice.usr.com/ControlCenter_for_external_modems_4_00_018_english__april_27_2001.exe So far, I didn't make ICN (Internet call notification) working after I did update using control center from the linkage. Anybody know how to make ICN working here (such as modem on hold , calling id etc...)? -- John |
