PoppyJim1 Tl Posts: 1 | Posted - 9/26/2001 4:41:19 PM Have a USR 56k PCI software modem model 5600, Problem with slowing down on the internet then kicks me off.. If I reconnect it is still slow and can only stay on for 3 min.. If I restart windows I can connect and stay on indef Seems like the software is loading down and not releasing or something.. I have 370 megs of memory so that shouldn't be a problem.. any suggestions ???? |

Once disconnected start the Hyperterminal session and issue ati6i7i11y11 to the modem. Post the results here. |
Skeeter71 Tl Posts: 2 | Posted - 10/20/2001 12:23:07 PM Yes! Yes! I'm having the exact problem w/ the exact modem. My ISP tech suppt says problem not w/ ISP but either modem or line prob. I dnloaded USR's update, tried various init strings, lowering connect speeds etc all to NO avail. Windows 98 says modem wking ok and no device/hardwre conflicts. Its a brand new modem I installed in August 2001. I have a pII 233mmx w/ 128 megs of sdram and 80% free hd space if that helps. Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks |
Skeeter71 Tl Posts: 2 | Posted - 10/20/2001 12:25:44 PM p.s. additionally I DID try the troubleshooter & interactive troubleshooter but no results. (fyi). |
Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 10/20/2001 1:49:05 PM Same advise as above. The ati6 should give the disconnect reason. See http://modemsite.com/56k/diag3com.htm for an explanation of the ati6i11 data. |
