figured i would start a new post on the same subject cause of the length well here i go..

i got the drivers for my modem and i uninstalled the modem then clicked on the run browse just like u said (click on setup .exe it loads and then looks to be transfering the files around, and then a lil sceen pops up saying setup caused an error in SETUP .EXE setup will now close restart your pc)but after the reboot i tried again and got the same exact thing:(so any tips there? and yes the modem was fully uninstalled under the device manager.

allso i was looking around earlier today in my files on the pc and found some stuff that the man that built my pc had left or just forgot i found what appears to be 2 diff. modem logs 1 fer my old modem(lucent winmodem 2) and the other ambient ham data fax voice which appears to allso be a modem log)i have the logs from both of them and i allso have the modem from my modem before uninstalling it and the other log after i had to reinstall it after the setup .exe error.. the ambeint modem hasnt been used sence 12/6/00 the day i got my pc then the lucent hasnt been used sence 9/5/01 sence the last time i got it fixed to get this modem could there be any kinda interfernce bettween the modems? i didnt think they would be sence there just logs. if u need the log from the ambeint or the usr modem just tell me but the log from the lucents is very long but i could send it to if u need it..

thx,
CHAD

If you have any antivirus programs running, disable them during installation. That might be the problem.

Reboot the computer, click Ctrl-Alt-Del and 'End Task' on everything except Explorer and Systray. Then try the setup.exe from the modem drivers directory.

Don't know, might try running the setup with the modem installed.
