barryjew Tl Posts: 5 | Posted - 11/29/2001 2:39:08 PM I'm continually getting a "no dial tone" message when I try to connect to my ISP. I've looked at the regional settings and they are correct. I've also used different phone cords and phone jacks, but nothing seems to work. I even went as far as using a different modem, but I still got the same error. Could something be wrong with my computer settings? Please help before the computer gets tossed out the window. Thank you. |
Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 11/29/2001 7:59:21 PM What OS? Modem set for the correct country (check country select in the Dialing Properties). Residential line or office PBX? If a PBX then it may be a non standard dialtone. Subscribe to a voice mail service that provides a wavering dialtone to indicate waiting messages? |
barryjew Tl Posts: 5 | Posted - 11/30/2001 1:10:22 PM Operating system is Win 98. It is a residential line. I do not subscribe to any voice mail or call waiting or anything like that. |

Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 11/30/2001 1:23:55 PM Tried disabling the 'Wait for dialtone before dialing' in the Control Panel, Modems? Might see if this helps:
