Argonne Tl Posts: 1 USA | Posted - 11/29/2001 9:22:11 PM I have a 3COM 3C886 Officeconnect Modem/Router that I am real happy with. It dials the ISP and establishes a connection whenever an outbound packet is detected from the LAN, but the negotiation takes so long that the originating application always times out before the connection is established. I want to speed up the negotiation and get connected faster. I connect very reliably (95% of the time) at 40000/ARQ/V90/LAPM/V42BIS, which is fine. It there an AT string that I could use to circumvent the negotiation and establish this connection faster? All I know about the modem in this thing is that it's a USR 56k V5.0.1 . |

However you can either disable 56K and force a V.34 connection (10-20 second negotiation) or try limiting the modem's maximum connect speed to 40000bps. See http://modemsite.com/56k/x2-linklimit.htm#3Com And http://modemsite.com/56k/ms.htm Might also see http://modemsite.com/56k/connectoid.htm |
