hfinz Tl Posts: 2 USA | Posted - 12/7/2001 11:36:47 AM My problem; with 2 different ISPs, my USR 5610a modem hangs up after EXACTLY 2 minutes unless there is activity. ( I use ping -t as a temp workaround. ) It may be this 5610a modem I just finally got It's not a "modem" control panel setting. Thanks...

Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 12/7/2001 12:21:30 PM Check in the Control Panel, Modems applet and the Internet applet for any 'Disconnect if idle' settings. Also if you use Outlook Express, check it's setup for any 'Disconnect if idle' settings. Could be an inactivity timeout implemented by the ISP, set your mail reader to check for new mail every 1-2 minutes. |

Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 12/7/2001 9:00:53 PM Don't know about the NT registry but that looks like the modem's timeout setting. By default it should be set to zero which disables the inactivity timer, anything greater than zero will activate the inactivity time. S19: Stores the duration (in minutes) for the inactivity timer. If the modem senses no data transmission for a period of time exceeding the nonzero value in this register, it disconnects the call. A value of 0 disables the function (default = 0). All other values enable it.
