i have 3com U.S.Robotics 56K Message Modem , the driver which came with the modem doesn't work good with the xp and the driver which came with the windows works good for a once but when i restart the computer (specially when the moden is turned off) i find that the modem is not identified (Not Present) by Windows XP ...

i know that the best way to fix this problem is upgrading to XP from previous windows without modem (Which is Imposible to me) ...

so .. can i find a Driver solves this problem ..

The Model 99566800

Thanx

It is the design of MICROSOFT Win2k/XP with Plug and Play that prevents an external modem from being 'available' if the modem is not powered ON at the time computer boots up....
The modem can still be used (as in Hyperterminal direct to COM port), but apps that rely on TAPI and the modem's listing in Windows are another story....

You could put the modem on a power strip that also powers computer, never turn the modem off by modem power switch; if computer is on, modem is on.

Richard

Thanx my friend for your reply ..

but i found that the best solution is to install the Win Xp from a previous version which doesn't have a modem installed ... when the win xp installation is finished the modem will not be detected .. then use driver available for Message 56K .. and after installing it and before using the modem or removing the win XP CD just Updtae the Driver .. that will find a new driver which will work fine ..

thanx again for your help

Try this (it is in french language):
http://www.usr-emea.com/support/s-group-template.asp?group=s-analogext&page=downloads&loc=frnc#5668-01

Then look in the "Modèles obsolètes :", click on " xx5668-00" and you can downland the last driver for Xp, 2K...
Mail me if you are happy
