v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 1/9/2002 5:11:01 PM It is the design of MICROSOFT Win2k/XP with Plug and Play that prevents an external modem from being 'available' if the modem is not powered ON at the time computer boots up.... The modem can still be used (as in Hyperterminal direct to COM port), but apps that rely on TAPI and the modem's listing in Windows are another story.... You could put the modem on a power strip that also powers computer, never turn the modem off by modem power switch; if computer is on, modem is on. Aloha, |
Wanted Tl Posts: 3 | Posted - 1/10/2002 4:14:58 AM Thanx my friend for your reply .. but i found that the best solution is to install the Win Xp from a previous version which doesn't have a modem installed ... when the win xp installation is finished the modem will not be detected .. then use driver available for Message 56K .. and after installing it and before using the modem or removing the win XP CD just Updtae the Driver .. that will find a new driver which will work fine .. thanx again for your help |
