Things have gotten really bad for web publishers who hope to cover costs and/or make money by displaying advertising. Until I pulled all the ads, Forum56 would display thousands of banners each day, and I'd be lucky to actually take in 50 cents - less than $15/month. (Consider - a decent hosting service for a site like Forum56 is going to cost $50 or more a month!) A couple of years ago, those impressions would earn $5 or more a day. And that's why web content is changing - many sites are requiring payment or subscription for access, and/or engaging in increasingly obnoxious advertising, and/or disappearing altogether.

So the ads are gone and there's a tip jar.
Actually, I'd like to divide the tips (if any) among the regulars who provide assistance by replying to posts.
Maybe allow those who make a tip to designate a user to assign it to. Any thoughts?
