Tom Lambertson Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 1/22/2002 6:51:50 AM I am trying to reinstall the subject modem in my computer which has an intel 133 mhz baby at motherboard. I uninstalled it to Laplink data to a workstation. When attempting to install, as soon as modem wizard attempts to locate the modem, the machine completely locks up. The machine is a dual boot system with NT on the second partition and the modem works fine on that partition. I tried to install using the pull down menu and choosing the modem. It installs and says it is installed correctly, but as soon as I try the diagonstic, the machine locks up. The jumpers on the modem are set to com2 irq3 and the com2 port is disabled in the bios. I removed the irq jumper and it didn't lock up, but didn't find the modem either. Please remember that this modem worked just fine before I did the laplink procedure. Any help would be appreciated |

Tom Lambertson Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 1/22/2002 11:31:34 AM I went into control panel/system/computer to check for IRQ Conflicts, saw none. I reinstalled the modem after disabling com2 in the bios., both physically and through software. I disabled all other non essential hardware and tried it again in safe mode. Thank You for your continuing assistance with this issue Tom |

Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 1/23/2002 9:19:33 PM Dang! Didn't catch that one.The Laplink software could/may be be configured to use the same com port as the modem. |
Tom Lambertson Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 1/24/2002 4:22:39 PM I ended up installing a PCI USR modem that I had. The computer immediately recognized the modem and installed it. Done in 5 minutes. Bye Bye ISA Courier! Thank you all for the feedback. This is a great website, and you do a wonderful service to all of us out here having modem problems! |
