Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 1/22/2002 4:51:32 PM Appears that Windows is timing out waiting for a response from the modem after the init string is sent, could be using the wrong .inf file or it's possible the modem's firmware is corrupt. See http://modemsite.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.htm for setting up Hyperterminal. In Hyperterminal issue ati7 and post the results. |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 1/23/2002 11:04:43 AM An external modem needs to cables - the phone cord to connect the modem to phone line, and a serial cable to connect the modem to the computer. Sounds as if you do not have the modem connected to the computer with a serial cable? These cables can be purchased as most stores that carry computer-related stuff. They generally are not supplied with external modems, and must be purchased separately. Aloha! Richard. |
