Got an old isa 56K usr modem. And I'm assuming it's X2. My connection is really slow, 21.4. My old modem would connection at 41.2 or faster. Along with the other modems in my house. I've also tried two 56K isa modems, and they both connect at 21.4.

Is it possible to upgrade the modem to v.90, and if so would that fix my problem. Are all of the 56K x2 modem able to be flashed up to v.90??

Might check the ati7 response in Hyperterminal, verify that the modem is X2 capable (Options line in the ati7 response), if the modem is X2 capable then you may be able to get a V.90 upgrade.

Got to http://www.usr.com/support/s-main-menu.asp and click on the "Product Code Finder" to verify the model you have, then for the upgrade go to:

Any other suggests??? The modem seems to take a bit longer to connect, and the handshake sounds a bit different. Would that have anything to do with it??

Make sure NOTHING else (including other modems) are plugged into same line, anywhere else in the home. Then try again. Either your line stinks or there's something else plugged in.

I did have two modems plug into the same line. But I tried just one modem on line phone line. Same thing.

I"ll post the results of that ati6i11y11 when I get home. I'm at work at the moment.
