|Forums | USR | ICN transforms USR V92 Fax PCI to V.22 @ 14.4!||Watch|

Since I have CW and both versions of CID on my one and only
land line, I tried using the ICN feature with my 5610 modem
and the lastest flash (0056100x_5_22_46.dmf) dated 2002.01.04. I used the ControlCenter to enable the ICN feature and immediately found I could no longer connect at better than 14.4K! I assume somewhere in the modem strings
the init settings are now messed up. I also noticed that if I use hyperterminal to talk directly to the modem via 'at' commands, the 'at+ms=?' command does NOT show V92 as a valid argument, that 'at+ms=V92,0,0,0" responds "OK", and that 'at+ms?' then shows V22!
Needless to say this is the last USR modem I'll buy, now that it is clear that the new off-shore owners are just milking the "brand equity" that the pre-3Com management built. Somehow buying a Zoom modem still feels like the wrong thing to do but until the next pension check comes it, can anybody clue me how to unscrew this USR mess?

I would reinstall the modem or you could go in safe mode,device manager and remove the modem,reboot and windows should reinstall the drivers. Also you might try +MS=V34 in extra setings.

It's also possible that the .inf file used to install your modem is old or has errors in it preventing proper modem init strings being sent to modem.
Check the USR site to see if there is an updated or newer .inf file (driver) for your modem.
A modem log may also be helpful in determining whether this is the problem.
