cunnhome Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 2/26/2002 6:40:41 PM Have a compaq laptop with a winmodem. Couldn't get above 28.8 using it. Bought a USR Sportster 325686-03 external. Can only get 28.8 with this too. ISP verified that their modems are v.90 and 56k. Never see above 3.5k upload speed. Trying to increase my speed. I know just enough to be dangerous and was hoping someone could look below and see if they see any problem. Thanks in advance. OK ati6i11y11 U.S. Robotics 56K FAX EXT Link Diagnostics... cunnhome Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 2/27/2002 3:47:37 AM I'd taken a look at the a/d problem before. Was hoping that perhaps something else besides that would be the problem. Thanks for replying. Is there anything else that I could change that might help increase my speed? Once again, thank you for your reply.

v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 2/27/2002 8:16:24 AM The difference of 24 between your 3750 and 3300 values in aty11 implies a line that is not 56k-compatible; In this case, you might get slightly better connect or throughput if you disable 56k on the modem. Shorter handshake, and possibly a better V.34 rate. While it's possible that you might be able to get a 56k rate to some ISP at some time (if the moon and stars are right), chances are that if that were to happen, it wouldn't be a good rate, and it probably wouldn't hold... Aloha! Richard. |
