jchchan Tl Posts: 2 Canada | Posted - 7/9/2000 11:10:11 AM I recently purchased a USR HW modem with PCI interface. product type ID 3CP263594-OEM SN 2421B5DAPL8J PN 3CP263594-OEM-50 USR 56k DPV AWPCI PC99 50PK MOdel 0766. It works much worst than my old Motorola SM56. The connected rate is 31200 bps all the time. The previous SM56 works at rate of 34000 to 38000bps. When I change my internet line phone no. to 56Kflex, it will connect at 40000 to 44000 bps. I use the 3COM update wizard to detect this modem. It says it cannot detect a modem, then it sees it as a 3COM make modem and model is non upgradeable. I tried to install the modem in different ports, com port 3 and port 2. The result is the same. I cannot find this model from 3COM site.Is it a hardware modem ? Any ways to inprove the connection rate ? Thank you Johnny |

As far as your connect rate - do the a/d conversion check www.808news.com/56k/x2-adconversion.htm Remember, your new modem is NOT Flex-capable - only V.90 and x2; You need to call a V.90/Flex or V.90/x2 # - a Flex-only # will not result in a 56k connect.
