I have a USR 2977, that connects at 16.8 - 21.6 and a Creative ModemBlaster 5633 V.92 that gets a 26.4

I tried the "ATY11" thing with the USR in Hyperterminal, but this is what I get:

aty11

Freq Level (dB)

OK

Is there any other tests I can do, or maybe someone can tell me what I', doing wrong with the 3COM diagnostic thing?

You need to make a call and disconnect before aty11 will have valid values.

(Note - USR Modems that are based upon Conexant Soft56 HSF chipset will not support aty11)

Thanks, here's what I got:

aty11

Freq Level (dB)

150 32
300 29
450 28
600 28
750 28
900 28
1050 28
1200 28
1350 28
1500 28
1650 28
1800 28
1950 28
2100 29
2250 29
2400 29
2550 29
2700 29
2850 29
3000 29
3150 28
3300 29
3450 33
3600 42
3750 55
OK

If you'll notice, there is a difference between the 3300 and 3750 values of 26. Now how bad is this? I know that's what's causing my slow connection speeds, but is it possible to do anything about it?

The '26' indicates that there may be more than one Analog/Digital converter on your line which would kill any chance of a V.90 connection, second phone line installed?

See http://modemsite.com/56k/addpline.asp

And http://modemsite.com/56k/x2-adconversion.asp
