My old computer gave the handshake sounds through my speakers. This new one only gives me the handshake through the small modem speaker. I am using the Audigy MP3+ sound card and can't seem to control it. It's a USR5601B modem. But neither the Pctel modem or the Diamond Supramax modem gave speaker sounds either. Any ideas? |
djines Tl Posts: 9 USA | Posted - 6/24/2002 5:51:24 AM The only time that I've ever had the modem handshake sounds to go through the speakers was with modem and sound combo cards. There might be a way to do it, what operating system are you using? |
drshane Tl Posts: 7 USA | Posted - 6/25/2002 7:28:09 PM I appreciate your response. This problem must be a no brainer. The only other modem I've used and heard was through the system speakers. It was a Lucent Winmodem. I'm running Win98 2e with the old and new systems. Do most modems not use the system speakers to handshake? My speakers work for most everything else. |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 6/26/2002 9:58:02 AM It's a matter of modem design - If the modem has a speaker on the modem, that speaker almost always will be used for call progress, and there's no way to change it; If the modem has no speaker & is designed as a 'voice' modem, call progress will go through the system speakers. Aloha! Richard. |
