Ok, this is a really weird problem. I have a USR 56k winmodem and when I connect to my isp I connect at 36k, ok that isn't the problem the problem is that it goes soo slow after it is connected. The data transfter stops and starts for several seconds.
The second part to this is a little while ago I signed up for freewwweb and started using their service and when I connected at 36k and above the modem would run fine and I would get download speeds at 5k a second. But now freewwweb is out of business and I'm back to my old ISP. The only way I can use my modem is if I disable v.90 s32=66. My isp is using v.90 modems so I don't see what the problem could be.

Any 56k connect rate below 40k will often result in poorer performance than a V.34 connect -

A connect rate below 40k indicates a marginal line for 56k, or impairments that are not properly detected by the modem, or poor server modems (old firmware or made by vendor that has poor interop. w/ your modem);

Check the results of the a/d conversion check
