I've been trying to get a USR Winmodem to work in NT4 (sp 6a) but it doesn't seem to want to work. I install the modem and then install the drivers off of 3com's site but it still gives me hardware errors when I try to dial the internet. I thought that it was compatible with NT because it has NT4 drivers on it's site for the modem. Is this wrong, do winmodems not work with NT?

Thanks,
Greg

As far as I know, 3Com/USR never sold RETAIL versions of their Winmodem with NT support; They did sell to several OEMs (including Dell) that required NT support, and did in fact write NT support for the Winmodem, but, to the best of my knowledge, never made it available to retail customers....

Nevertheless, I think it can be done with the retail version of the modem; however, how to do it is beyond the scope of my memory & knowledge.....

Aloha,
Richard
