helengayle Tl Posts: 45 USA | Posted - 9/23/2003 3:53:56 PM I have installed it and it was very easy to install. But I have couple of questions. Do I need to have Outlook Express opened all the time on my taskbar for POPfile to work? Also, I have the option on for POPFile to run in the background. Is this correct? One other question (smile), please. Do I need to make up folders within OE that reflects my buckets? Thanks. |
helengayle Tl Posts: 45 USA | Posted - 9/24/2003 11:50:47 AM I'm going to reply to my own message. I found a forum for POPFile and obtained my answers there. However, I unstalled it because it takes up a lot of memory. I have 256 mb ram, Win XP but I am also running the modem-on-hold, Norton and Zone Alarm. So if I add OE and POPFile, wow, my memory goes way down. |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 9/24/2003 9:02:12 PM Memory used doesn't matter. XP handles it - physical memory isn't required - uses a number of techniques including paging that lets you use way more memory that is actually installed. 256mb is plenty. Aloha! Richard. |
helengayle Tl Posts: 45 USA | Posted - 9/25/2003 8:32:06 AM Thanks Richard for the tip. Do you have POPFile "running in the background" all the time with Outlook Express opened, as well? Thanks. |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 9/26/2003 2:26:40 AM Well, I don't use Outlook Express for e-mail, but if I did, it would be running all the time; Before I started using Outclass, I was running POPFile at system startup in the background.... Aloha! Richard. |
helengayle Tl Posts: 45 USA | Posted - 9/26/2003 9:12:56 AM Thanks Richard. When you had OE, was the "spam" bucket the only one you had quarantined checked or were all your buckets checked quarentined? |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 9/28/2003 7:07:28 PM Sorry - not sure I understand the question. Aloha! Richard. |
