I'm trying to find out how to get my modem to turn my computer back on when a phone call is received while the computer is in sleep mode. I am on Win XP-Home. Is this a modem or computer setup problem ?

Both, what is the modem type? There is a setting in the bios of your pc also. You will need a ACPI capable BIOS.Check under power management in the bios.

Thank you for responding.

My Computer has the following settings:
1. My Modem is a Creative V.92 "Modem Blaster" with Data,
Fax/Voice capability.

2. Under "My Computer/Manage/Device Mgr" Modem is on
COM 3, IRQ 11, and under "Power Mgmt" the box is
checked to "Allow this device to bring the computer
out of standby"

3. In "Setup" under "Power Mgmt" ACPI is set to "S1(POS)"

4. In "Setup" under "Wake Up Events":
a) PCI Master - ON
b) Resume on PCI Event - Enabled
c) Resume on LAN/Ring - Enabled
d) Primary INTR - ON
e) IRQs Activity Monitoring: IRQ 11 - Enabled

If you need any other settings, please state what you need.

Thanks,

RoyG

Bios looks ok checking if this modem support WOM.Do you have the modem set up to answer a call coming in? The modem will answer with the S0= command like S0=2 the modem will answer on second ring.
WOM has change alot in setup, before you needed a External and you had to leave the power on the modem. Now the card needs no power but you may need software open to take the card.

Wake Up on Ring is a Rapid Resume feature. When you enable it, the computer will turn on when the phone rings assuming you have the telephone line connected to the computer. If you have fax or fax/voice software open, the computer can receive faxes or messages after it turns on.

My Modem works fine so long as the computer is running normally. But when it shuts down due to inactivity it won't come back on when the phone rings. Do you see any changes I can make that will enable the system to return to normal when the phone rings?
