My Actiontech pci modem only connects on intial install.
In order for it to work I have to remove it from the modem
list before I shut down or it will not connect the next time
I boot-up. Windows XP then finds the modem and installs it
with the correct drivers. Anyone have a clue why this happens?

What model modem is this. Is this a brand name pc like dell..ect? Are you log on as administrator?

What drivers is XP installing?
Might want to look at this pdf file make note of the drivers install after windows installs the drive. Might want to use the update driver tab to install the correct drivers.

The model # is Actiontec V.92 pci pro

If this is the lucent use the 8.30 drivers./ Is this a xp upgrade or how did this problem start. Might try the modem in another slot. Make sure you remove all drivers before removing the modem. Run ltremove.exe. What error are you getting when you try to reconnect?
