From what I can gather, the MultiTechs don't really negotiate like a standard modem, so it takes only a couple of seconds for another quick-connect modem to be connected. What I'm finding is that a regular modem wants to spend time negotiating after the connection and I'm looking for a way to reduce that. Btw, the modem I'm using on my end uses a Cirrus chipset MD56xx. I've used the +MS commands to set the speed settings to 1200bps and it is connecting OK. Cheers! |

JakeBrake Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 11/24/2003 3:07:32 PM No, not V92. V22. It's a Trendnet TFM-560x I'm using to connect to the host. I'm trying to shave seconds off the connect time, but after messing with it this weekend, I don't think I'll get it any faster than 7-10 seconds. I've found a few modems that offer a quick connect feature (not the v.92 proposal) like StarComm and HDT Technologies, but it's not clear whether this is a standard or if each company is implementing the quick connect proprietarily in hardware. Charles: Thanks for the link..interesting reading on that site. |
