sjacv Tl Posts: 1 United Kingdom | Posted - 12/3/2003 12:30:59 PM I have just bought time pc which unbeknowing to me (didnt read all the small print} has a supanet dedicated modem.I have always been with aol and am happy witrh it ,,,,,,,,, Is there any way i can use this modem,or does it have to be replaced? If I get an external modem would I be able to use this without removing the original modem. It is 56k not bb Any help would be appreciated .I have no idea about modems at all Thank you |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 12/9/2003 7:55:36 PM There's either a registry tweak or an .inf file modification that may remove the dial-up restriction. First thing is to determine the chipset - then, look for info on how to access/change the setting. Basically, for controllerless or soft modems, this restriction is probably going to be a 'soft' restriction - something in the driver or registry entry - nothing in the modem itself that's going to stop you from using it as a normal modem.
