Go to the add/remove program and remove any modem drivers that are listed.

Go into device manager look for unknown device, modem, and remove. Reboot windows should find new hardware.

may need to disable com2 in the device manager or bios.

Might also be a good idea to look on the modem for the FCCID# to get the proper drivers.

Drivers inf showing PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_2F00&SUBSYS_8D8B155D

Drivers should be the MA560CI MA_1447_98.ZIP for 98

Might run the setup.exe in the driver file to install the drivers reboot.

Dear Charles,
I have a very similar problem as the one you replied to. However, I installed XP Home Edition over Xp Home Edition Professional and now I can't get my computer to detect a modem.

Give me some info on modem and pc. Do you show unknown device or communication device in device manager?
