Hi,
I have downloaded modem 8.02 special for my LT V.90 modem that is already in my portable.
I use the LTremove.exe file, restarted the computer and then used the SETUP.exe file but it didn't work .
I think I know the reason but I can't fix it. When I look in control panel>modems options I see that it has installed the modem on port: COM4 whereas previously it was on port: COM3.
Do you know how I can install back the modem like it was?

PS: the modem I had before was a version 6.00.

I hope there is somebody that can help me.

The COM port is 'not important' - IOW, if the new driver installs as COM4, the modem should work on COM4.
You may need only to adjust your DUNs connectoids.
You should check the modem operation connecting directly to the COM port in Hyperterminal as descrbed at

Connectoids - www.modemsite.com/56k/connectoid.asp

Aloha! Richard.

What you told me Richard didn't work but I think I know my misstake.
When I did the installation I read to quickly the instructions. Since I have Windows 2000, I use the LTremove.exe and then run setup.exe BUT I never have physically remove the modem. The thing is I don't know how to open my portable without damaging it and then I don't know what I should take away!
Is there still some hope that I can fix the problem by myself?

Thanks for your help

You do not need to remove the modem. Run ltremove and reboot and when windows finds new hardware hit canel.Check the device manager for any modem listing and remove, remove all dun connectoids. If there is a problem with com port 4 you might need to disable it in the device manager or bios.Might also disable com 3 for the modem to use. Then run setup and reboot. Might also use the update driver tab

What version of Windows are you running?
Have you resolved the problem?

Aloha! Richard.

Thank you for your advice Charles. I tried what you said but it didn't work. For some reasons that I don't understand Windows (2000) is unable to find the modem by itself. I don't know what to do!
