I bought a Hiro 56K Data Fax Modem V .92 . I installed in my computer. then downloaded the CD software that came with it. on my windows XP . However modem on hold function did not activate . I downloaded the update of the driver still it did not work. How can I send the At command directly to my modem to activate the modem on hold feature? Or is there any special driver that should be downloaded to activate this eature? Thanks

I think your modem may use Intel's soft chipset -

"Intel provides generic drivers: http://www.intel.com/design/modems/support/drivers.htm however, they do not provide a Modem-on-hold applet. If you were sold a V.92 modem with the Intel chipset, the manufacturer (Intel doesn't build modems) should have bundled compatible modem-on-hold software - usually BVRP's NetWaiting or FaxTalk's NetOnHold. While Intel and others provide modem driver downloads, the modem-on-hold isn't included with these downloads."

Check the CD you have & look (you could use Start->Search) through the CD for the modem-on-hold software.

Aloha! Richard.

Thank you for your prompt reply Richard. In the instruction manual it states that if the modem does not answer an incoming call then the auto answer function is been disabled. Enable the functionby sending the ATS0=1 command to your modem under Terminal mode. The question is how do I get to the Terminal mode to be able to send this command? What is the mechanism involved there? Thanks Richard and happy new year.

Your reference isn't for modem-on-hold - it's for modem auto-answer (like for fax).

For modem-on-hold, you need an additional program - not part of the driver. It may be on the CD that came with the modem (BVRP / NetWaiting or FaxTalk / NetonHold)

Aloha! Richard.
