billybones Tl Posts: 2 USA | Posted - 1/14/2004 5:23:04 PM I have a older compaq computer that I let me brother use at his house about 8 miles from me. When I connect the computer up at my house it will connect fine. But when I take it to his house it will not connect to the server. Could it be the phone line noise not letting the modem communicate with the server right or what. |

Aeromaestro Tl Posts: 8 USA | Posted - 1/27/2004 7:13:20 AM I'm curious. What effect does having voicemail have? |
charles Tl Posts: 5879 USA | Posted - 1/27/2004 8:49:56 AM voicemail put out a tone to let you know that you have voice mail, the modem can not detect this as a dial tone because it is not a steady tone. You can add commas to the dial number to pause the modem from detecting dial tone until the voice mail tone are gone. ,,,,,XXX-XXXX |
